Knitting. This blog is supposed to include some knitting after all.
Remember this? I had to send it to time out. I was on a roll, finished the decreases for the neck on the second front, measured what I thought was the right length and bound off the shoulder. It was looking like I would have all the pieces ready to block and sew up in a week or so.
Then, and only then, did it occur to me to compare the two fronts. Front #1 was 1 1/2 inches longer than front #2. I measured again, while holding the pieces in my lap. More than once because each time I got a different number. They even once measured exactly the same even though I could clearly see they were different. I decided that front #2 was correct and frogged front #1 back about 2 inches.
Then I decided to take them to the work table, lay them out flat, pin them in place and measure them correctly. Front #1 had actually been the correct length. Front #2 was 1 1/2 inches too short.
I have, thanks to Doctor Who, reknitted both fronts to the same size. Now though, I don’t feel ready to cast on for the sleeves.
Meanwhile, my Christmas knitting is on the back burner, simmering away in the further recesses of my mind, but not really ever getting up to a boil. I will have to stir that pot soon.
Location: It’s November! Do you know where your Christmas knitting is?
